Horse Racing Bet Types Explained
Straight Bets
- Win: Your horse must finish first
- Place: Your horse must finish first or second
- Show: Your horse must finish first, second, or third
Exotic Bets
- Exacta: Pick the first two horses in exact order (can be boxed)
- Quinella: Pick the first two horses in any order (cheaper than exacta box)
- Trifecta: Pick the first three horses in exact order (can be boxed)
- Superfecta: Pick the first four horses in exact order (can be boxed)
Box Betting
Boxing a bet covers all possible combinations of your selected horses. This increases your chances of winning but also increases the cost. For example, a $2 exacta box with 2 horses costs $4 (covers 2 combinations).
